Updates and what’s next

Updates and what’s next

Figured I was WAY overdue for a photo update, so here are a few shots from around the fish room. I have been working diligently on making sure ALL the species of shrimp I offer that breed in freshwater that I make available are home bred. This helps ensure their quality and stability of color traits, and ensures that they have not been exposed to many of the diseases that are so prevalent in imported shrimp these days. I am working on building...

Livestock updates!

It has been quite a bit since I updated and posted pictures! I have been traveling ALLLLL over speaking at clubs and events, and have had very, very little time home on weekends. I am home for the Summer, except for two trips, so expect a lot of updates and a much fuller stocklist! Coming up soon is the American Cichlid Association Convention in Springfield, Mass. I hope to see some of you there. It is a great time and supports Cichlid...

Some fish updates

Whew, winter is not kind! Sickness, computer issues, death, snow, freezing temperatures! That being said, I am working on building up the ole stocklist, and am traveling a ton in the upcoming weeks. Here are a couple fish pics from around the fishroom, some of which will be coming out of quarantine next week. I plan on starting to restock more shrimp (been focusing on breeding my own, only) as well as some more asian species including...

FINALLY updates!

FINALLY updates!

It has been a rough couple months, again, for my poor family! Illness, death of a very close friend, and computer crashes. That being said, I am back on track! I had to replace my computer, and all my software, so its an adjustment getting used to new stuff. I shot a few pictures today of some of the livestock I have available.   I am especially enamored with the Orange Hatchetfish, a new item on my stock list, as they seem to be...

All caught up and working on restocking!

All caught up and working on restocking!

It has been a doozy of a time with this weather! Things are finally back on track, and I placed a small order this week, as well as one arriving Monday. I am planning a large order for the end of the month, so now is the time to hit me up with special requests for me to consider! I got in a few species that I don’t generally carry, Hyphessobrycon flammeus (Flame tetra), Boraras merah, and Thayeria obliqua (Penguin tetra), as well as...

Home again! More events coming up and some livestock updates.

I am home from the convention and glad to be! Up next is the NJAS 60th Anniversary show, located in East Brunswick NJ on October 10-13th. They have a HUGE speaker line up and I really encourage anyone in the area to check it out! I am not sure yet if I will be attending, though I hope to make an appearance at least. This is a phenomenal group of people! After that, I will be speaking at Aquafest 2013 in Herndon, VA. Pre-orders will be accepted...

More invertebrates shots- CPO heavy!

More invertebrates shots- CPO heavy!

Just grabbed a few shots of invertebrates (and a few fish) around the fish room today. CPO babies everywhere! And they were full of themselves today, showing off, so you get to see a lot of pictures of these fun little crays! They are very sassy, despite their tiny size. Plant, fish, snail, and shrimp safe- they are a colorful and sassy addition to a small peaceful tank. One should make sure there are ample hiding spaces for them after they...

Pictures pictures pictures!

Pictures pictures pictures!

I have been a busy, busy lady! I spoke at the CCA Aquamania Convention in Gaithersburg, MD and also was selling at their marketplace that Sunday. It was an outstanding time! The club really did an excellent job and the turnout was fantastic. I was able to upgrade my camera body after my CCA weekend, and have been spending as much time as I can, between all my travels, taking pictures! I am SUPER happy with the quality from the upgrade, and...

Busy busy busy! An update and a few pictures

Busy busy busy! An update and a few pictures

I have been busily trying to figure out my speaking schedule for this year. I have been invited to so many awesome clubs, but sadly can only visit a few. As many of you are aware, I have a few kids and taking care of them has to come first. Scheduling is difficult at best, luckily my husband will willingly take what vacation he can to aide in my attendance at conventions and clubs. I have been updating my events calendar, and will continue to...

Ahh importing- you fickle fiend! New critters

Ahh importing- you fickle fiend! New critters

As everyone probably knows, I have been desperately trying to get Boraras brigittae back in stock. I have ordered them the past ten weeks or more in a row with no luck. Yesterday, I got my packing lists and was ECSTATIC as I had ordered them from two different sources and BOTH were coming in. Well, long story short, my freight got delayed by over 12 hours because of Christmas freight issues. I had to bribe the air freight worked to even pick up...

Your daily dose of pictures!

Your daily dose of pictures!

Well, some of you may have read of the most recent fish room foible- I dropped my remote flash into a tank. Absolute brilliance, you gasp. Yea, I know. Right now it is happily residing in a large bag of rice, but I am not hopeful that it will work. Regardless of this set back (psst, now would be a great time to make an order so I can purchase a new remote flash), I decided to try and shoot some pictures around the room anyway. I did not get...
