FINALLY updates!

FINALLY updates!

It has been a rough couple months, again, for my poor family! Illness, death of a very close friend, and computer crashes. That being said, I am back on track! I had to replace my computer, and all my software, so its an adjustment getting used to new stuff. I shot a few pictures today of some of the livestock I have available.   I am especially enamored with the Orange Hatchetfish, a new item on my stock list, as they seem to be...

Species spotlight- Clea helena- “Assassin snail”

“The freshwater snail Clea helena is a Southeast Asian species closely related to the marine whelks (family Buccinidae). In the trade it is most commonly called the ‘assassin snail’ or ‘snail-eating snail’. Among scientists it is also known as Anentome helena and as Clea (Anentome) helena. This latter designation reflects the division of the genus Clea into two subgenera, Clea (Clea) and Clea (Anentome) for the Asian species, and Clea...

More critters

I was trying to get pictures of some of the critters today. I wasn’t overly successful, but here are a few shots regardless. It is very, very difficult to get a shot of the Brevibora dorsiocellata. They are a lovely silver color with a yellow cast and have a dark blotch in their dorsal fin. They also have a very lovely blue lampeye, and are the best schoolers I have ever kept in a fish under 1.5″. The Trigonostigma espei are...

Restock of some favorites! Espei rasbora, dwarf cories, bumble shrimp and nerites

Picked up my fish order today, which is largely restocking a lot of my favorite creatures. I still have over a dozen empty tanks, so plan to add some more small oddballs, including gobies and more shrimp, in the upcoming weeks.   Today I got in more T. espei (they are quite young), Bumble bee shrimp, Bumble bee nerites, Micro crabs, Corydoras pygmaeus and habrosus, and again, tried for B. brigittae but ended up with B. uropthalmoides. sigh...

All the new critters are conditioned and ready to go! I took some feeding pictures (Repashy Soilent Green) from around the fish room today. Clearly everyone was enjoying! The stock list should be up to  date, and I anticipate the arrival of my Peru order (some day, sigh!). I plan to restock my nerites and get some more shrimp variety in the upcoming weeks. Enjoy and Happy New Year!   I will continue to update shots and work on the profiles...

Spent a few minutes in the fish room today trying to get pictures of the shrimp species available. I plan on spending much of tomorrow down there, as well, as it is marathon water change day. Once all my maintenance is complete, I will be shooting photos again. Keep your eyes peeled for more updates! Also, this week I picked up Oryzias woworae, Hemigrammus bleheri, T. espei, horned nerites, more amano shrimp, and probably a few things I have...

Some more shots from around the fish room.

Some more shots from around the fish room.

I was working hard in the fish room today trying to snap some pictures of shrimp. Let’s just say, my fine tuning with my remote flash leaves a bit to be desired so I will try again on another day. I have a few shots of invertebrates to share, and a couple of fish. I plan on spending a lot of tomorrow taking pictures of more of the livestock available in the fish room right now.        ...

More invertebrates in stock

More invertebrates in stock

It has been awhile since I got a decent shipment of shrimp and snails in, seems like everytime lately there has been an issue either with availability or quality. I am very happy to report that I have several more species of shrimp and nerite all in stock. It is perfect shipping time of year (in my area) for invertebrates, with priority mailing being perfectly acceptable. I now have in stock again Red rili, Tiger, and Bumble bee shrimp. I have...

A couple new critters added today- CPO, ADF, and more

Picked up a small order today of some critters I have not carried in awhile. Some of you know that I really got interested in invertebrates because I used to raise African Dwarf Frogs and was looking for appropriate tankmates. It peaked my interest in snails and shrimp and has just grown from there. I had stopped keeping ADF’s after one of the one’s I added to my tank came in with chytrid and it wiped out my entire colony. I just...
