Getting back into the swing of things!

Getting back into the swing of things!

Just wanted to update everybody! Today is my husband’s first full day back to work! While he is not out of the wood (we need to make it three more months for that), he is improved enough for our life to get back to normal. This means for all of you, that I am picking up fish on Sunday! I am working on building my stock list back up, and continuing to focus on my breeding efforts. I started doing a little harvesting from my outdoor...

Life is settling down- hopefully back on track soon!

Life is settling down- hopefully back on track soon!

My husband had a severely (over 80%) detached retina, as a complication to the corneal transplant. They reattached it last week, and hopefully we are almost out of the woods. As long as it stays attached, I should be back on track to order more critters within two weeks! This will set me up beautifully to really get back into business by early September, once new critters have cleared quarantine. I will also be offering SCADS of Meteor minnow...

All caught up and working on restocking!

All caught up and working on restocking!

It has been a doozy of a time with this weather! Things are finally back on track, and I placed a small order this week, as well as one arriving Monday. I am planning a large order for the end of the month, so now is the time to hit me up with special requests for me to consider! I got in a few species that I don’t generally carry, Hyphessobrycon flammeus (Flame tetra), Boraras merah, and Thayeria obliqua (Penguin tetra), as well as...

Pterygoplichthys weberi

Pterygoplichthys weberi

I accidentally got these in when trying to get in more Parotocinclus from Peru. They get a bit large at adult size for my fish room, at  7.5″. My mistake is your gain! Right now they are about 1.25″, and extremely cute but they are going to get bigger, probably quickly. They are an omnivorious pleco, whose color will change as they age. Here is a link to a planetcatfish profile which shows their adult coloration and gives more...

More orange rili!

More orange rili!

I picked up an order yesterday, and have some neat stuff! I got more Orange rili shrimp, due to popular demand. I also picked up solid Orange Neocaridina, Snowball Neocaridina, standary Red Cherry shrimp, Green Caridina shrimp, Batman nerite snails,  Clown killies, Threadfin rainbows, Ember tetras, Cherry Barbs (quite young), more Chili rasboras, and restock of CPO’s. I will likely list the new critters for next week. A reminder, I am...

Sometimes I get neat contaminant fish! Pimlodella sp. 3

Sometimes I get neat contaminant fish! Pimlodella sp. 3

Often when I get in wild caught fish, there are a few that are not what I ordered mixed in. I call them my contaminants. Generally they are common fish, or of comparable size. In early 2009, I brought in some C. habrosus from Colombia, and there were two exceptionally tiny baby catfish. I posted on Planet Catfish and got a species id of Pimlodella sp. 3. They were cute enough, but the size range I was given was 3″-30″, so only time...

All the new critters have settled in well!

All the new critters have settled in well!

All the new critters are conditioned and ready to go! I took some feeding pictures (Repashy Soilent Green) from around the fish room today. Clearly everyone was enjoying! The stock list should be up to  date, and I anticipate the arrival of my Peru order (some day, sigh!). I plan to restock my nerites and get some more shrimp variety in the upcoming weeks. Enjoy and Happy New Year!   I will continue to update shots and work on the profiles...

And yet more updated pictures

And yet more updated pictures

Whee! Spent about 5 hours in the fish room today cleaning tanks and sorting through my copious amounts of excess equipment, hardscape, and substrates (ironic that I have hundred of pounds of it, since 95% of my tanks are bare bottom). After all the water changes, I snapped just a couple of pictures of some of the critters I either missed shooting yesterday, or who were looking particularly photogenic. I will likely spend ALL day...

A few more shots featuring Captain Crankypants!

A few more shots featuring Captain Crankypants!

Some of you that know me from forums have already seen Captain Crankypants. He is my wild oscar that I got almost 6 years ago. His personality is, erm, complex (if I am being kind). Yesterday after water changes he was acting relatively cooperative, so I decided to snap a few shots. There are some others, as well, from around the fish room. I plan to do a day long photo shoot in the next week or so to capture shots of some of my other pets....
