Updates, pictures, and news!

I am freshly home from the 2015 Aquatic Gardeners Convention, and it was STELLAR. I had a wonderful time both speaking and vending, and enjoyed all the presentations immensely. I came home inspired to scape! I will be in Silver Spring, MD this Saturday to present a new presentation on breeding fish in containers. The meetings are at JFK High School and the doors open at 1pm. I am planning another order to pick up next weekend, and hope...

Getting back into the swing of things!

Getting back into the swing of things!

Just wanted to update everybody! Today is my husband’s first full day back to work! While he is not out of the wood (we need to make it three more months for that), he is improved enough for our life to get back to normal. This means for all of you, that I am picking up fish on Sunday! I am working on building my stock list back up, and continuing to focus on my breeding efforts. I started doing a little harvesting from my outdoor...

Getting ready for Summer travels! Florida is up first- Tampa and Ft. Lauderdale

Getting ready for Summer travels! Florida is up first- Tampa and Ft. Lauderdale

This Summer will be a busy one! I am starting out the season by heading to Tampa to speak at the Tampa Bay Aquarium Society on Monday, June 10. I won’t be taking pre-orders, as it is a pretty loooong drive, but I will be bringing donations for the club. That same week, I will be speaking near Ft. Lauderdale at the Gold Coast Aquarium Society. I am really looking forward to this trip! This week I have gotten in a bunch of new livestock. I...

More critters

More critters

I was trying to get pictures of some of the critters today. I wasn’t overly successful, but here are a few shots regardless. It is very, very difficult to get a shot of the Brevibora dorsiocellata. They are a lovely silver color with a yellow cast and have a dark blotch in their dorsal fin. They also have a very lovely blue lampeye, and are the best schoolers I have ever kept in a fish under 1.5″. The Trigonostigma espei are...

A couple new critters- more pictures to come!

A couple new critters- more pictures to come!

I picked up an order yesterday and got, what I think, is some nice stuff! I picked up Panda garra, Dario dario, two kinds of licorice gourami (still waiting for them to settle in for pictures), some ruby tetras (also waiting on these to settle in), Painted Fire reds, more chili rasboras micro crabs, and some other stuff. Here are a few pictures of questionable quality to tempt your fishy taste buds! Keep in mind, the critters have been in the...

Geosesarma crabs- a strikingly beautiful addition to a vivarium

Geosesarma crabs- a strikingly beautiful addition to a vivarium

A good friend of mine, Bill Brissette of mellowvision.com, has been working with these beautiful little crabs for quite awhile now. He now has multiple generations of the crabs in his tank, and I was blown away by their beauty and behavior when I recently paid his fish room a visit. These crabs do best in a set up similar to what would be used for dart frogs- high humidity and lots of emergent plants. Bill has his set up with a great rainbar...

New livestock- it has been a busy few weeks!

I have been a busy busy girl, picking up freight from multiple airports over the past few weeks. While there were some disappointments (my India shipment of caridina cf. babaulti and dario did not come in) there were also some high points. I picked up a species I have not kept before, Aspidora pauciradiatus. They are almost painfully cute, behaving in a very similar fashion to dwarf corydoras. I also was able to get more C. habrosus, P....

Repashy Superfoods Product Spotlight: Shrimp Souffle

This fresh and saltwater “scavenger formula” is an omnivore formula specifically designed for aquatic and semi-aquatic invertebrates and mollusk eaters. Shrimp Soufflé is high in calcium, and has double the carotenoid levels of the other Repashy Gel formulas to provide essential nutrients for a strong exoskeleton and great coloration. Omnivorous species of shrimps, crabs, and crayfish, as well as many species of loaches have an extremely high...
