Picked up a small order yesterday, mainly restock of my much beloved Red Spot and Zebra nerites, as well as more cardinal tetras and more Kubotai rasboras. Here are a few shots from around the fish room.     Click the more tab to view the images    ...

The Peru order has arrived! Some things I expected, and some surprises!

The Peru order has arrived! Some things I expected, and some surprises!

Many of you know that I have been waiting, not so patiently, for an order to arrive from Peru for a few months now. At long last, it has arrived! There are a TON of fish, many of which are completely new to me, and I am still figuring out the identification of a few. I have gotten restock of Otocinclus cocama, though not many, and also have Hypoptopoma sp. Peru orange again (the orange zebra). I am also SUPER pleased by a tiny little...

Busy busy busy! An update and a few pictures

Busy busy busy! An update and a few pictures

I have been busily trying to figure out my speaking schedule for this year. I have been invited to so many awesome clubs, but sadly can only visit a few. As many of you are aware, I have a few kids and taking care of them has to come first. Scheduling is difficult at best, luckily my husband will willingly take what vacation he can to aide in my attendance at conventions and clubs. I have been updating my events calendar, and will continue to...

All the new critters have settled in well!

All the new critters have settled in well!

All the new critters are conditioned and ready to go! I took some feeding pictures (Repashy Soilent Green) from around the fish room today. Clearly everyone was enjoying! The stock list should be up to  date, and I anticipate the arrival of my Peru order (some day, sigh!). I plan to restock my nerites and get some more shrimp variety in the upcoming weeks. Enjoy and Happy New Year!   I will continue to update shots and work on the profiles...

Ahh importing- you fickle fiend! New critters

Ahh importing- you fickle fiend! New critters

As everyone probably knows, I have been desperately trying to get Boraras brigittae back in stock. I have ordered them the past ten weeks or more in a row with no luck. Yesterday, I got my packing lists and was ECSTATIC as I had ordered them from two different sources and BOTH were coming in. Well, long story short, my freight got delayed by over 12 hours because of Christmas freight issues. I had to bribe the air freight worked to even pick up...

Tri-color nerite showcase

Tri-color nerite showcase

I got in a bunch of Clithon species nerites yesterday, both with horns and without and the color diversity is beautiful. I snapped a few quick pictures today of them lounging in their tank. They are very active, and about pea-sized right now so quite young. I caught a few other shots around the fish room as well. The coral red pencils and zebra otos are still doing fantastically well, many have traveled to their forever homes but I still have a...

A few more shots featuring Captain Crankypants!

A few more shots featuring Captain Crankypants!

Some of you that know me from forums have already seen Captain Crankypants. He is my wild oscar that I got almost 6 years ago. His personality is, erm, complex (if I am being kind). Yesterday after water changes he was acting relatively cooperative, so I decided to snap a few shots. There are some others, as well, from around the fish room. I plan to do a day long photo shoot in the next week or so to capture shots of some of my other pets....

A visit with Frank Falcone-what a fish room!

A visit with Frank Falcone-what a fish room!

After attending the BCAS workshop, I was kindly invited to spend the rest of the weekend at Frank Falcone’s beautiful home. Ian Fuller had been staying with him on this portion of his visit to the states, and I was very excited! I have known Frank for a few years, but had never made it down to his home before. I was more than a little excited to visit his fish room and I was not disappointed. He has probably well over 100 tanks and some...
