Books back in stock, and some shots from around the fish room

Books back in stock, and some shots from around the fish room

Things are going well in the fish room! I had a great time at the All-Aquarium Catfish Convention. Here are some shots from around the fish room.  Some of the hillstream species are beginning to be released from quarantine though the borneo suckers still need more time. I also got in another case of the book I co-authored, and they are available as well. The response from my friends and customers has just been amazing! You guys sure know how to...

Hillstream species in stock! My book is available! And CatCon!

Hi guys! It seems like much is coming together all at once! I got in a bunch of new critters last week, including some really nice shrimp and Hillstream species. I will be posting a few pictures, and also have some videos on my youtube page. I am going to be taking the majority of the Hillstream species to sell at the Catfish Convention in a few weeks. I am also planning on adding more of all the species, as well as more shrimp and more...

CRS and CBS now in stock!

CRS and CBS now in stock!

I had the opportunity to pick up a good amount of locally bred CRS (Crystal Red Shrimp) and CBS (Crystal Black Shrimp). They are a variety of grades with S+ being the most common. I snapped a few shots, and these are available for immediate purchase. This species of shrimp prefers soft water, cooler in temperature but make a beautiful addition to a small tank!        ...

Life is settling down- hopefully back on track soon!

Life is settling down- hopefully back on track soon!

My husband had a severely (over 80%) detached retina, as a complication to the corneal transplant. They reattached it last week, and hopefully we are almost out of the woods. As long as it stays attached, I should be back on track to order more critters within two weeks! This will set me up beautifully to really get back into business by early September, once new critters have cleared quarantine. I will also be offering SCADS of Meteor minnow...

Sale prolonged through the new year, and some shrimp shots

Sale prolonged through the new year, and some shrimp shots

Since the weather took such a nasty turn, and I have not been able to ship, I am prolonging my Holiday incentives ($5 off, $10 off shipping) through the first week of January. This will include my tote and gift certificate give away. I cannot ship until the daytime temperatures are above freezing, and it is supposed to warm up a bit soon. I will be absolutely taking the week before Christmas off from shipping, as there is just too much in the...

Feeding advice for shrimp! Shrimp balls ensue!

Feeding advice for shrimp! Shrimp balls ensue!

Many of you who have attended my presentations already know that I feed my shrimp tanks quite sparingly. I generally feed 1-2 times a week, and then a very small quantity. Overfeeding is a major issue in shrimp tanks, as the tanks are generally smaller in volume, and fluctuations of parameters are more common with less dilution. Since shrimp are intolerant of these fluctuations, care should be taken to keep the tank parameters as stable as...

Weekly update- A note about shipping- AND taking the weekend OFF!

Weekly update- A note about shipping- AND taking the weekend OFF!

Hey guys! I am taking this weekend off to celebrate my 10th wedding anniversary with my husband. I will be checking in, but will not be doing shipping estimates until early next week 🙂 A note about shipping, as well, Ground/Home delivery service is now at your own risk and I would really prefer if next day Express service is chosen for fish, which is what my live arrival guarantee will cover. Because of the rampant discrepency of daytime...

Trying to take pictures! The joys of fish being uncooperative!

As some of you know from following me on Facebook, I recently purchased a cute little tank that is designated for photography only. Now if only the fish would cooperate! Here are the end results of my labor. I have been struggling to get pictures of Danio erythromicron. I have them in a tank that has the short side out, and to say they are uncooperative for photos is an epic understatement. I have them housed with Rosy loaches, and they two are...

Ahh importing- you fickle fiend! New critters

Ahh importing- you fickle fiend! New critters

As everyone probably knows, I have been desperately trying to get Boraras brigittae back in stock. I have ordered them the past ten weeks or more in a row with no luck. Yesterday, I got my packing lists and was ECSTATIC as I had ordered them from two different sources and BOTH were coming in. Well, long story short, my freight got delayed by over 12 hours because of Christmas freight issues. I had to bribe the air freight worked to even pick up...
