Pencils, Amano shrimp, and Chili Rasboras back in stock!

Pencils, Amano shrimp, and Chili Rasboras back in stock!

After many months of struggling to have Amanos in stock consistently, and to get a decent quantity of REAL Boraras brigittae, they are both back in stock! We have lots of nice fish in the fish room right now, as well as many young home bred shrimp. I am getting ready to head to Ontario for the C.A.O.A.C. Annual Convention, so shipping is only on Monday of this week. Since I will be out of the country, responses may be delayed to inquiries,...

Stock list is filling out! BEAUTIFUL nerites and lots of little fishes back in stock!

FINALLY, after the brutally cold and snowy winter, the fish room is getting restocked in a major way! I just got a bunch of neat little fish, and am ordering shrimp and gobies to pick up next weekend. As always, items need to go through a quarantine period before becoming available for sale, but I have listed the projected prices for planning purposes. This upcoming weekend I will be in CT for the NEC Convention. I will be bringing my book, as...

FINALLY updates!

FINALLY updates!

It has been a rough couple months, again, for my poor family! Illness, death of a very close friend, and computer crashes. That being said, I am back on track! I had to replace my computer, and all my software, so its an adjustment getting used to new stuff. I shot a few pictures today of some of the livestock I have available.   I am especially enamored with the Orange Hatchetfish, a new item on my stock list, as they seem to be...

New critters doing great!

New critters doing great!

The new critters are largely doing great! The orange otos didn’t import well, but rest assured I will try again in early January! I am STILL shipping, though may not much past this upcoming Monday, as I don’t want boxes to be delayed because of the impending holiday season. That being said, I DO plan on ordering more shrimp, snails, and small fishes soon, so now is the time to let me know what your little heart desires! Here are a...

Some new livestock and some fish updates

Some new livestock and some fish updates

Things have been busy, busy, busy- as always! I picked up some new critters this week, and still have some new guys left to photograph in the next day or so as they settle in. Added to the fish room this week are Microdevario kubotai, Sawbwa resplendens, Nannostomus eques, Hemigrammus bleheri, Panaqolus maccus, and some restock of a few things. I am also getting ready to set up my breeding bins in the yard, so snapped a few picture of some of...

Playing with my f-stop-more shots from the fish room

Playing with my f-stop-more shots from the fish room

I have been conversing with a few photo friends, trying to improve my images so I took a couple more shots around the fish room today. Some are better than others, but I am especially pleased at how they show the growing color in the Pyrrhulina spilota, which I recently featured in a species spotlight. They get very nice blue edging to their fins, visible in these shots. There are also a few pictures, while not the best shots, showcase the...

All the new critters have settled in well!

All the new critters have settled in well!

All the new critters are conditioned and ready to go! I took some feeding pictures (Repashy Soilent Green) from around the fish room today. Clearly everyone was enjoying! The stock list should be up to  date, and I anticipate the arrival of my Peru order (some day, sigh!). I plan to restock my nerites and get some more shrimp variety in the upcoming weeks. Enjoy and Happy New Year!   I will continue to update shots and work on the profiles...

Nannostomus species- a diverse and beautiful group of fish

I have been completely enamored of pencil fish for some time now, and with the new shipments I have been getting in from Peru, have only become more so. I have gotten in three species of pencil so far, Nannostomus mortenthaleri, Nannostomus rubrocaudatus, and Nannostomus marginatus. To the casual observer, these fish are very easy to confuse with one another but there are a few ways you can tell them apart. Nannostomus mortenthaleri (Coral Red)...

The cocama have landed!

The cocama have landed!

I got my first installment of my Peru orders yesterday. Nannostomus mortenthaleri and Otocinclus cf. cocama. They look great! They are already eating well and coloring up beautifully. The otos are an atypical pattern, so I am referring to them as cf. cocama while I wait for confirmation on their exact species. They are being fed Repashy Soilent Green and Xtreme cat scrapers and are active and happy. The pencils are pretty tiny still, just over...
