Read MoreAfter a long drawn out dry spell, I have Boraras brigittae and Otocinclus back in stock as well as many other goodies including Danio erythromicron, Corydoras habrosus, hovering loaches, rosey loaches, and much more. Here are a few quick shots from the fish room today. I plan to spend a fair amount of time photographing this week, as well as updating species profiles for reclassifications, and making new ones for new species. I hope you enjoy...
Read MoreI was trying to get pictures of some of the critters today. I wasn’t overly successful, but here are a few shots regardless. It is very, very difficult to get a shot of the Brevibora dorsiocellata. They are a lovely silver color with a yellow cast and have a dark blotch in their dorsal fin. They also have a very lovely blue lampeye, and are the best schoolers I have ever kept in a fish under 1.5″. The Trigonostigma espei are...
Read MoreMany of you know that I have been waiting, not so patiently, for an order to arrive from Peru for a few months now. At long last, it has arrived! There are a TON of fish, many of which are completely new to me, and I am still figuring out the identification of a few. I have gotten restock of Otocinclus cocama, though not many, and also have Hypoptopoma sp. Peru orange again (the orange zebra). I am also SUPER pleased by a tiny little...
Read MoreAll the new critters are conditioned and ready to go! I took some feeding pictures (Repashy Soilent Green) from around the fish room today. Clearly everyone was enjoying! The stock list should be up to date, and I anticipate the arrival of my Peru order (some day, sigh!). I plan to restock my nerites and get some more shrimp variety in the upcoming weeks. Enjoy and Happy New Year! I will continue to update shots and work on the profiles...
Read MoreIt has been awhile since I got a decent shipment of shrimp and snails in, seems like everytime lately there has been an issue either with availability or quality. I am very happy to report that I have several more species of shrimp and nerite all in stock. It is perfect shipping time of year (in my area) for invertebrates, with priority mailing being perfectly acceptable. I now have in stock again Red rili, Tiger, and Bumble bee shrimp. I have...
Read MoreWhile feeding this morning, I decided to snap a few more shots of some of the critters in the fishroom. I was particularly focused on getting a few shots of the Orange zebra otos. I hope you enjoy the updates!
Read MoreIt has been awhile since I posted about feeding the foods in the fishroom, so I figured I would take a few minutes just to show how I like to use the foods best. My two favorite diets are the Soilent Green (aufwuchs replacement) and the Shrimp Souffle (mollusk based scavenger diet high in carotenoids). These are the two diets that I feed the most in the tanks right now. The soilent green is given to all my fish with herbivorous tendencies and...
Read MoreCaridina cf. babaulti are a very diverse group of shrimp originating mainly from India. The most common coloration seen is a tan or green but they can range from black, to neon yellow, to blue, and also have a few striped varieties. Babaulti have the typical characteristics of most Caridina,...
Read MoreI have been a busy busy girl, picking up freight from multiple airports over the past few weeks. While there were some disappointments (my India shipment of caridina cf. babaulti and dario did not come in) there were also some high points. I picked up a species I have not kept before, Aspidora pauciradiatus. They are almost painfully cute, behaving in a very similar fashion to dwarf corydoras. I also was able to get more C. habrosus, P....
Read MoreThe first group of Otocinclus cocama has just finished an extended quarantine and are now ready for their forever homes, just in time for Valentine’s Day! What better gift for the fishkeeper you adore! Limited availability from this first group, but fear not as I have another group due to hit the country this...
