FINALLY updates!

FINALLY updates!

It has been a rough couple months, again, for my poor family! Illness, death of a very close friend, and computer crashes. That being said, I am back on track! I had to replace my computer, and all my software, so its an adjustment getting used to new stuff. I shot a few pictures today of some of the livestock I have available.   I am especially enamored with the Orange Hatchetfish, a new item on my stock list, as they seem to be...

Books back in stock, and some shots from around the fish room

Things are going well in the fish room! I had a great time at the All-Aquarium Catfish Convention. Here are some shots from around the fish room.  Some of the hillstream species are beginning to be released from quarantine though the borneo suckers still need more time. I also got in another case of the book I co-authored, and they are available as well. The response from my friends and customers has just been amazing! You guys sure know how to...

Species spotlight- Micronemacheilus cruciatus (Dwarf zebra hovering loach)

The Micronemacheilus (dwarf hovering loaches) were recently reclassified from Yunnanilus to Micronemacheilus, and were just too adorable to resist photographing today. They are a really fun little critter, hovering mainly in the mid-water section of the tank. They are a small species, the females at maturity being slightly larger than the males, at about 1.3″. They are easy to feed, readily taking live, frozen, or dried foods. They do...

More critters

More critters

I was trying to get pictures of some of the critters today. I wasn’t overly successful, but here are a few shots regardless. It is very, very difficult to get a shot of the Brevibora dorsiocellata. They are a lovely silver color with a yellow cast and have a dark blotch in their dorsal fin. They also have a very lovely blue lampeye, and are the best schoolers I have ever kept in a fish under 1.5″. The Trigonostigma espei are...

The Peru order has arrived! Some things I expected, and some surprises!

Many of you know that I have been waiting, not so patiently, for an order to arrive from Peru for a few months now. At long last, it has arrived! There are a TON of fish, many of which are completely new to me, and I am still figuring out the identification of a few. I have gotten restock of Otocinclus cocama, though not many, and also have Hypoptopoma sp. Peru orange again (the orange zebra). I am also SUPER pleased by a tiny little...

All the new critters have settled in well!

All the new critters have settled in well!

All the new critters are conditioned and ready to go! I took some feeding pictures (Repashy Soilent Green) from around the fish room today. Clearly everyone was enjoying! The stock list should be up to  date, and I anticipate the arrival of my Peru order (some day, sigh!). I plan to restock my nerites and get some more shrimp variety in the upcoming weeks. Enjoy and Happy New Year!   I will continue to update shots and work on the profiles...

More invertebrates in stock

More invertebrates in stock

It has been awhile since I got a decent shipment of shrimp and snails in, seems like everytime lately there has been an issue either with availability or quality. I am very happy to report that I have several more species of shrimp and nerite all in stock. It is perfect shipping time of year (in my area) for invertebrates, with priority mailing being perfectly acceptable. I now have in stock again Red rili, Tiger, and Bumble bee shrimp. I have...
